A struggle for 1-in-8 families

Hunger is a pervasive problem, with 1-in-8 families often choosing between buying groceries or lifesaving medications. With the significant increase in food prices, residents who are living in poverty or barely making ends meet, struggle now more than ever.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to serve people who desperately need help as inflation and the cost of living continue to rise,” said Amy Hicks, Executive Director of United Way of Franklin County, PA. Heather Guessford, President and CEO of United Way of Washington County, MD added “with the generosity of the VerStandig Family, our efforts will be doubled in both communities enabling us to serve significantly more residents.”

All proceeds from United Against Hunger will stay local, benefiting local food pantries, home-delivered meals, backpack programs, fresh food distributions, food delivery to those living in food deserts, and many food-related programs. The United Against Hunger challenge will run through August 11th. Donations are accepted by mail, online, or by phone. Contact:
