$1600 donation to CASD scholarship fund

A $1600 donation presented to the Chambersburg Area School District (CASD) Foundation recently by the Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce will go into the Tim & Susan Cook Memorial Scholarship Fund

Funding came from this year’s 17th Annual Tim and Susan Cook Memorial One-Mile Race. The Chamber hosts the annual event. More than 100 runners participated. The race pays tribute to the memories of Tim and Susan Cook, who died tragically in a 2002 car accident.

Dedicated to education, Tim taught at Chambersburg Area Senior High School and Susan worked at Shippensburg University.

Area runners always contribute to the race’s success. Coach Chris Monheim assisted with promotions and coordinating the race logistics this year.

“We were happy to see so many runners support the race again this year in honor of Tim and Susan Cook,” Chamber Director of Operations Angela Schaeffer said.

She called the Cooks a couple dedicated to youth and committed to education.

“We are honored to uphold their legacy,” she said.

This year’s $1600 donation helps provide scholarships for Chambersburg Area Senior High School students who model the characteristics exemplified by the Cooks.

The CASD Foundation receives donations for the Tim and Susan Cook Scholarship Fund throughout the year. Those donations come from individuals, alumni, CASHS faculty committees, booster clubs and various community organizations.
