$25 Million Federal Grant for New Pennsylvania Transit Facilities

Senators Bob Casey and John Fetterman of Pennsylvania have announced a $25 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation for rabbittransit in Harrisburg. The grant, funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, will be used to construct a new bus transfer center and a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-compliant maintenance and operations facility. The new facilities aim to replace a 120-year-old transit facility, enhancing public transportation in the state’s Capital region.

The funding will also support the creation of a transfer center equipped with 16 bus berths, ticket and pass sale booths, real-time passenger information systems, and amenities like canopies and seating for weather protection. This investment is part of over $40 million secured by Senator Casey for rabbittransit under the same act, aiming to improve accessibility, reliability, and convenience in public transit for local residents.
