Medtech Recalls Little Remedies® Honey Cough Syrup Over Microbial Contamination Concerns

Medtech Products Inc., a subsidiary of Prestige Consumer Healthcare Inc., has issued a nationwide voluntary recall of five lots of Little Remedies® Honey Cough Syrup due to microbial contamination. The recall, announced on June 17, 2025, is due to the presence of Bacillus cereus and a loss of shelf stability.

Bacillus cereus can cause foodborne illness with symptoms including nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhea. In some cases, high levels of exposure may lead to serious health risks, especially for vulnerable populations.

The affected 4 FL OZ (118 mL) products were distributed across the U.S. through retail stores and online between December 14, 2022, and June 4, 2025. Recalled lot numbers and expiration dates include:

  • Lot 0039 – Exp. 11/2025
  • Lot 0545 – Exp. 01/2026
  • Lot 0640 – Exp. 02/2026
  • Lot 0450 – Exp. 05/2026
  • Lot 1198 – Exp. 12/2026

The recalled syrup is identified by UPC 7-56184-10737-9 and packaged in an amber bottle within an outer carton, with lot codes printed on both the label and carton bottom. No other Little Remedies® products are affected, and no serious adverse events have been reported to date.

Consumers are advised to stop using the affected product and contact a healthcare provider if they experience symptoms. Medtech is offering reimbursement for recalled items. Refunds and inquiries can be directed to Medtech at:

This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Adverse reactions can be reported through the FDA’s MedWatch program at www.fda.gov/medwatch.
