NHTSA Recalls Certain Achilles ATR Sport 2 Tires Over Identification Issue

recall

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced a safety recall involving certain Achilles ATR Sport 2 tires.

According to the recall notice, manufacturer Pt. Multistrada Arah Sarana, TBK (Multistrada) is recalling Achilles ATR Sport 2 tires in the following sizes: 245/50ZR20, 245/45R17, 225/55ZR18, 295/25ZR21, and 205/45ZR17.

The recall was issued because the Tire Identification Number (TIN) printed on the affected tires is too long and cannot be registered by owners. This issue means the tires do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 574, which covers tire identification and recordkeeping.

Without proper registration information, owners may not receive future recall notifications, potentially leading to continued use of a recalled tire and an increased risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect the affected tires and provide a refund for the purchase price as needed, free of charge. At this time, the manufacturer has not released a schedule for when recall notifications will be sent to owners.

Owners with questions about the recall can contact TBC Quality Assurance at 1-800-739-7698. Consumers can also check whether their tire is affected by using the NHTSA Recall Look-up Tool and contacting the manufacturer for additional remedy information.
