Multiple Product Recalls Announced Over Safety Hazards

A series of consumer product recalls were announced March 26 involving furniture straps, bed rails, gas connectors, power strips, ice climbing axes, grill brushes, sauna heater kits, bassinets, LED mini lights, magnet ball toys and ride-on trucks due to hazards that include fire, falls, entrapment, ingestion and tip-overs.

4our Kiddies recalled about 253,500 plastic tip restraint kits after officials said the restraints can break or degrade, creating tip-over and entrapment hazards that can lead to serious injuries or death for children or elderly consumers. Consumers are advised to stop using the plastic restraints immediately and contact the company for a free stainless steel replacement kit.

Vive Health recalled about 122,000 adult portable bed rails because users can become entrapped within the rail or between the rail and mattress, creating a risk of asphyxiation. Two deaths were reported. Consumers are told to stop using the bed rails immediately and contact the company for a full refund.

DuraTrac recalled about 196,800 stainless steel gas connectors due to a manufacturing defect that could cause a gas leak and fire. Consumers are advised to stop using the connectors immediately and contact the company for a full refund.

Middle Way Electronics recalled about 5,543 CCCEI brand power strips because the strips do not contain supplementary overcurrent protection, creating a fire risk if overloaded. Consumers should stop using the power strips immediately and contact the company for a full refund.

Petzl America recalled about 4,200 Nomic and Ergonomic ice climbing axes sold in the United States, along with about 1,160 sold in Canada, because the shaft can break at the handle during use, creating a fall hazard. Consumers should stop using the recalled axes immediately and contact the company for a free repair kit.

Nexgrill recalled more than 10.2 million metal wire bristle grill brushes sold at Home Depot after reports that small wire bristles can detach and stick to grills or food, creating an ingestion hazard and risk of serious internal injuries. Consumers should stop using the brushes immediately and contact Nexgrill for a refund in the form of a gift card.

DIY Cold Plunge recalled about 675 sauna heater kits sold in the United States and about 14 sold in Canada because electrical conductors can overheat and cause a fire. Consumers are advised to stop using the kits immediately and register for a full refund.

AirClub recalled about 110,400 convertible bassinets because the attachment mechanism can create an opening between the bedside sleeper and mattress, posing a fall hazard to infants and violating the mandatory standard for bedside sleepers. Consumers should stop using the bassinets immediately and contact the company for a replacement attachment mechanism.

Sunnyyes recalled about 26,000 LED mini lights because children can easily access the lithium coin batteries, creating an ingestion hazard. Officials said the product also violates federal standards for consumer products with coin batteries and lacks required warning labels. Consumers should stop using the lights immediately and keep them away from children while seeking a refund.

GLMZZ recalled about 9,350 fidget magnet ball toys because the high-powered magnets pose an ingestion hazard to children and violate the mandatory standard for toys. Officials warned swallowed magnets can cause intestinal perforations, twisting, blockage, blood poisoning and death. Consumers should stop using the toys immediately, take them away from children and contact the company for a refund.

Bioenrrty recalled about 200 MPINOI adult portable bed rails sold on Amazon because users can become entrapped within the rail or between the rail and mattress, creating a risk of asphyxiation. Officials said the rails also violate the mandatory standard for adult portable bed rails and do not have required warning labels. Consumers should stop using the product immediately and contact the seller for a refund.

Shenzhen Luobei Trading recalled about 1,980 FUNTOK ride-on trucks because the circuit board can overheat and ignite, creating fire and burn hazards. Consumers are advised to stop using the trucks immediately, unplug them if charging, and contact the company for refund instructions.
