Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter Honored as ’Nonprofitof the Year’ by the Cumberland Valley Business Alliance

Held in partnership with the Chambersburg and Greencastle-Antrim Chambers of Commerce, the Cumberland Valley Business Alliance annual awards breakfast was hosted Wednesday March 25 at Antrim Brethren In Christ Church in Marion, PA.

The event, with more than 200 attendees present, serves as the premier opportunity to honor businesses and individuals driving growth and excellence throughout the Cumberland Valley, and included the presentation of CVBA’s 2026 award to Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter as its ‘Nonprofit of the Year.’

The Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter received recognition for its compassionate care and innovative programs that address animal welfare needs. With initiatives like the Second Chance Fund and educational outreach, the shelter plays a vital role in the community.

“On behalf of our leadership team and board of directors, our dedicated employees and our amazing volunteers, we’re delighted to receive this honor,” said Todd Willman, director of development for the local animal shelter.

This award recognizes the hard work, dedication and efforts of CVAS in continuing its mission of sheltering, supporting, adopting out and reuniting with owners nearly 1,300 animals last year.

This award gives us a larger voice in advocating for animals who are lost, stray, abandoned and too often abused. We thank our local communities for all of their support in so many ways, especially to the CVBA for this honor,’ noted Willman.

Said CVBA Board Chair Adam Donius during the program’s opening remarks, “We are incredibly proud of our award recipients and their impact on the Cumberland Valley, their leadership and dedication not only strengthen our business community but also enhance the quality of life across our region.”

The ceremony featured the presentation of six prestigious awards, recognizing excellence across various sectors. The event honors individuals and organizations that exemplify leadership, innovation, and a strong commitment to community.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
