A Howard County woman was convicted and sentenced for submitting more than $25,000 in false claims related to home healthcare services, Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced.

Falguni Patel, 60, falsely reported providing home healthcare services while working in person at another job or traveling outside the country. HomeCentris Healthcare LLC, formerly known as Personal Health Care Inc., relied on Patel’s statements when submitting claims to Maryland Medicaid.

Patel pleaded guilty to felony public health fraud on Aug. 3, 2026, in Baltimore County Circuit Court. Judge Garret P. Glennon Jr. sentenced her to five years in prison, with all but time served suspended, followed by three years of supervised probation. Patel was also ordered to pay $25,310.51 in restitution.

The case is part of an ongoing investigation into fraudulent home healthcare claims involving the Maryland Attorney General’s Office, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the FBI, Maryland State Police and the Maryland Department of Health.
