Chambersburg, Greencastle Prepare for Friday Night Matchups

by Ed Gotwals

Chambersburg will host Cumberland Valley in a Mid Penn Commonwealth football game Friday at 7 p.m. at Trojan Stadium. The game will also recognize the newest members of the Chambersburg Athletic Hall of Fame at halftime.

Cumberland Valley enters the game with a 1-2 overall record and a 1-1 conference mark after losing 28-7 to Harrisburg. Chambersburg is 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference following a 21-20 loss to Cedar Cliff.

Eagles quarterback Colton Stamy has completed 32 of 47 passes for 345 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Jaydin Holmes and Angel Young lead Cumberland Valley’s rushing attack. Chambersburg coach Gary Carter said the Trojans must limit mistakes, create turnovers and improve their scoring percentage in the red zone.

Trojans quarterback Cam Green has passed for 532 yards and four touchdowns. Jashaun Palmer leads the team with 295 receiving yards, while Deakon Snavely has recorded a team-high 28 tackles. Chambersburg expects Mason Mowen, Ashton Allen, Nate Chambers and Cam Wadel to return from injuries.

Greencastle-Antrim will host Susquehanna Township in a Mid Penn Colonial game Friday at 7 p.m. at Kaley Field. Susquehanna Township is 1-2 after defeating Hollidaysburg 23-7, while Greencastle improved to 2-1 with a 28-6 victory over James Buchanan.

Blue Devils coach Jason Thurston said Susquehanna Township has size along the line and a quarterback with a strong arm. He said Greencastle must play well for all four quarters and make fewer mistakes than the Indians.

Gavin Logsdon has passed for 238 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. Spencer Long leads the rushing attack with 222 yards and two touchdowns. Elijah Ambrose and Braden Eckert share the team lead with 16 tackles each.

Both games will be streamed live on MidPennBroadcasting.com.
