by Ed Gotwals

Chambersburg fell 21-0 to Cumberland Valley on Friday night at Trojan Stadium in a Mid Penn Commonwealth football game. The Trojans played without injured quarterback Cam Green and receiver Jashaun Palmer, who also serves as the backup quarterback.

Justin Deneen made his first appearance after an injury and completed 14 of 26 passes for 120 yards to nine receivers. Chambersburg reached Cumberland Valley’s 38-yard line on its first possession and the 24 on its second but did not score.

Cumberland Valley took a 7-0 lead on Cole Hockenberry’s 12-yard touchdown run with 1:24 left in the first half. The Eagles then recovered a Chambersburg fumble at the Trojans’ 5-yard line, setting up a 1-yard touchdown run by Colton Stamy before halftime. Stamy added a 41-yard touchdown pass to Torin Lang in the fourth quarter.

Rocco Bushman led Cumberland Valley with 101 yards on 25 carries. The Eagles finished with 224 yards of offense, while Chambersburg had 164. Mason Mowen and Deakon Snavely each intercepted a pass for the Trojans, giving the team its first two defensive takeaways of the season.

Chambersburg is 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference. The Trojans play at Central Dauphin next Friday.
