Clair was born on 31 August 1932, in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Chester R. Baker and Myra A. Baker.

He is survived by his two daughters, Sandra L. Hessler, Chambersburg, and Patricia M. Curtis, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, sons-in-law Buck (Floyd) Hessler and Darrell Curtis, and five beloved grandchildren, Brooke Patty, Chambersburg, Catlin Thomas, Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Justin Curtis, Richmond, Virginia, Darrell M. Curtis, and Shane Curtis of Mechanicsburg, as well as seventeen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife and partner of 67 years Madeline L. Baker, brother Floyd Baker, and sister Vera L. Mulhollen.

Clair graduated from Huntingdon High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He later served for thirty one years at Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring in 1988 as a computer programmer.

He enjoyed working to support his family and thoroughly relished hunting, fishing, and restoring antique cars. We honor him for his integrity, wisdom, and entrepreneurial spirit that allowed him to build houses, repair cars, and sell collectables at local flea markets.

Clair’s family will host a celebration of his life. Service will be conducted by Pastor Mike Sanders of The Open Door Church at Parklawns Funeral Home at 3218 Philadelphia Ave, Chambersburg on Monday, 19 October. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the service at 11 a.m. Following the service a meal will be served at The Open Door Church, 600 Miller Street, Chambersburg. All are welcome to attend.
