Shippensburg University’s field hockey team remained No. 2 in the Atlantic Region and No. 2 nationally in the third NCAA Division II Power Index released Monday. The top six teams held their positions.
The NCAA uses the Power Index, which evaluates game results and strength of opponents, to determine championship qualifiers. The rankings will be updated daily ahead of the selection show, which will stream at 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, on NCAA.com.
Eight teams will qualify for the tournament, with five from the Atlantic Region and three from the East Region. Four conference champions will receive automatic berths this year, up from three with the addition of the East Coast Conference. The NCAA will seed the eight qualifiers without regard to region.
The quarterfinals will be played at campus sites Saturday, Nov. 21. Robert L. Hicks Field at Pembroke Hill School in Kansas City will host the semifinals Thursday, Dec. 3, and the championship game Saturday, Dec. 5.
