Lois A. Ocker 1937-2026

Lois A. (Wingert) Ocker, 89, of Chambersburg, PA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 2, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born October 14, 1937, in Duffield, PA, she was the daughter of the late Levi and Hazel (Shafer) Wingert.

On September 17, 1961, she married Harvey A. Ocker, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love, sharing 65 years of marriage.

Lois was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker who found great joy and purpose in caring for her family. She appreciated the simple pleasures of life and enjoyed cross-stitching, embroidery, gardening, and especially tending to her African violets. She also spent many hours canning and freezing the produce from her garden. Through the countless things she did each day, Lois quietly expressed her love for those around her. Her family meant the world to her, and she cared for them with love and dedication.

Lois was a woman of faith and a longtime member of Upton Brethren Church, Greencastle, where she had attended since 1977. Prior to that, she attended Antrim Brethren in Christ Church, Greencastle.

In addition to her husband, Harvey, she is survived by nine children: Miriam Celius and her husband, Jonas, of Gettysburg, PA; Carl Ocker and his wife, Barb, of Greencastle, PA; Wilmer Ocker and his wife, Dianne, of Waynesboro, PA; Marsha Ocker of Mercersburg, PA; Sheila Martin and her husband, DelRay, of Chambersburg, PA; Clifford Ocker of Chambersburg, PA; Arvin Ocker and his wife, Deanna, of Greencastle, PA; Judith Byers and her husband, Peter, of Mercersburg, PA; and Orville Ocker and his wife, Danette, of Richland, PA. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Alan T. Ocker; a brother, David Wingert; and a sister, Mary “Grace” (Wingert) Thrush.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Upton Brethren Church, 8490 Warm Spring Road, Greencastle, PA, with Brothers Anthony Lehman, Peter Byers, DelRay Martin, and Carl Ocker officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. and again from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington Street, Greencastle, PA. and again one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
