Amos L Keefer Sr. obituary 1932~2023


Mr. Amos L Keefer Sr., 90, of Greencastle, PA passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023, in his home.

Born October 21, 1932 in Mercersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Harvey and Eva (Thomas) Keefer. He was a lifelong resident of the Mercersburg and Greencastle areas.

He and his wife, the late Florence J. (Wolford) Keefer, were married on August 2, 1952 in Hagerstown, MD. They lived on Ridge Road for over 50 years. Mrs. Keefer died on December 8, 2016.

Mr. Keefer worked at Hess Brothers Orchards, GMC Truck in Hagerstown, MD, A&B Garage in Hagerstown and he retired in 1994 from Armco in Greencastle, after more than 20 years with the company.

He was a member of Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro and enjoyed baseball, nascar, camping and woodworking.

Mr. Keefer is survived by three children: Amos L. Keefer, Jr. of Fort Pierce, FL, Barry L. Keefer of Greencastle, and Brenda K. Bower of Dagsboro, DE; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Louise Kaiser of Greencastle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023 in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, 3218 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Ray Kipe officiating.
