Wilson College’s Division of Arts & Letters spotlights area high school students’ artwork in latest exhibit at Lortz Hall’s Bogigian Gallery. The exhibit is free and open to the public and is running now through December 8.
The exhibition, the 13th of its kind at Wilson, is an opportunity to be inspired by visions of creativity, and to celebrate regional excellence in the visual arts. The show includes works of art from entries submitted by high school students from Franklin, Adams, Cumberland, and Fulton counties in Pennsylvania and Washington County in Maryland.
Cash prizes are awarded to first, second, and third place entries along with monetary scholarships for those winners, should they matriculate at Wilson College. Works of note are also recognized with an Honorable Mention.
Jay Barker, a senior at Carlisle High School, earned the first prize with an oil on canvas work entitled Chuck. Eva Ball, also a senior at Carlisle High School, earned the second prize with an oil and embroidery thread work on canvas entitled Hilos. Both Barker and Ball are advised by art teacher Ashely Gogoj.
Bogigian Gallery, named in honor of Wilson College benefactor Hagop Bogigian, is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is free. For more information or an appointment to view the gallery, contact Wilson College Professor of Fine Arts Philip Lindsey.
