Kiyon Hardy, Shippensburg University senior (Philadelphia, Pa./The Shipley School (Kutztown)) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week. The announcement was made Monday afternoon by the league office.
Hardy averaged 19.5 points in a 2-0 week for the Raiders
Hardy averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists per game and 2.0 steals per game for the Ship Raiders. SU secured two victories this week, extending its win streak to seven games with a Wednesday home win over Seton Hill and a Saturday win at Millersville.
In the Wednesday victory over Seton Hill, Hardy led SU in scoring with a career-high 20 points, surpassing his previous career high of 19 set in December at Clarion. Hardy made three three-pointers, his most as a Raider, and a total that tied his career high. He also dished out six assists, grabbed three rebounds and had two steals.
In the win at Millersville, Hardy finished with 19 points, one short of the new career high set against Seton Hill. Thirteen of his points came in the first half. It’s his fifth game in double figures this season and the 20th such game of his career. He added six rebounds and two steals.
It is the first PSAC weekly award of Hardy’s career. He is the second Raider named the PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Week this season; Jake Biss was honored Dec. 20.
