Betty Lou Chilcote, 85, a lifelong resident of Fannett Township, went to be with the Lord on May 25, 2023 in her Spring Run Home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Calvin E. Chilcote, Sr. in 2018.

Born Sept. 12, 1937, in Dry Run, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Marie (Cramer) Piper.  She graduated from Fannett-Metal High School in 1955.

In her younger years, prior to raising her family, she worked at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg.  Later she was employed as a cafeteria worker for 28 years at Fannett-Metal School, retiring in 2002.  She also served for many years as secretary for Fannett Township.

Betty Lou was a long time, faithful member of the Spring Run United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.  She also held various positions at the church, as well as being the pianist.

She had been a member and past president of the former Path Valley Lioness Club and was a member of the PASR.

Her family fondly remembers her wonderful meals and her beautifully crocheted creations.

Surviving are 4 children:  Evelyn Boyer and her husband, Dave, Donna North and her husband, Jay, Mary Ann Yocum and her husband, Mark, and Calvin E. Chilcote, Jr. and his wife, Kim, all of Spring Run and a sister, Virginia Poe, Spring Run.  Also surviving are 7 grandchildren: Amber Runk  (Adam), David Boyer (Megan), Paige Wright (Shane), Lori Boggs (Brad), Blake Yocum (Kirsty), Matt Chilcote (Elaine) and Bryce Chilcote, and 10 great grandchildren: Bennett, Ensley and Emmy Lou Runk, Addison and Parker Wright, Brayden and Savannah Boggs, Landon Yocum and Noah and Jayde Mellott.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brandi Mellott and brother-in-law, Jake Poe.

Funeral Services will be held Wed., May 31, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the Spring Run United Methodist Church, 16667 Main St., Spring Run, PA, with Pastors Darwin Goshorn and Marlin “Butch” Neil officiating.  

Viewing Tue., May 30, between 6 and 8 p.m. in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run, PA and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Wed.  

Interment Path Valley Cemetery.
