Boys & Girls Club of Chambersburg Hosts STEM Family Night with Chambersburg Fire Department

The Boys & Girls Club of Chambersburg recently hosted a STEM Family Night at the Chambersburg Clubhouse, bringing together youth and their families for an evening of hands-on science and community connection.

Families enjoyed dinner before participating in the evening’s featured activity: designing and building egg-protective vessels to be dropped from a Chambersburg Fire Department Ladder Truck. The challenge encouraged creative thinking, engineering skills, and teamwork among participants of all ages.

The Club extends its congratulations to all youth and families whose egg vessels survived the drop.

The evening was made possible through the generous support of several community partners. Thank you to Captain Anthony Chen and Robert Barrett of the Chambersburg Fire Department for spending their evening with us to make the egg drop activity a success. Nick Roth, from Negley’s Water & Well Drilling, led the planning and execution of the activity. Hillside Poultry Farm generously donated the eggs used in the event, and Negley’s Water kept us well hydrated!

Thank you to the Franklin County Housing Authority for their continued partnership and support of the Boys & Girls Club of Chambersburg and the broader community.

Thank you to the Target Foundation for providing funding this year’s family nights!

Who We Are

The Franklin County Free Press, established by Vicky Taylor in 2019, emerged as a beacon of local journalism for the residents of Franklin County. Under Vicky's leadership, it quickly became an essential source of news, particularly at a time when major newspaper publications were increasingly overlooking local coverage.

On January 1, 2022, the torch was passed to Nathan Neil and his firm, Neil Publishing, LLC. Neil, a local entrepreneur with multiple thriving businesses in Chambersburg, shares Vicky's fervent commitment to both the community and the world of local journalism.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
