PennDOT recently announced the initiation of a significant bridge replacement project on Route 997, specifically Black Gap Road, located in Greene Township. This endeavor is part of a comprehensive 5.1-mile resurfacing initiative spanning from Route 30, known as Lincoln Highway, to Interstate 81.
Barring any adverse weather conditions, the bridge, which crosses Cold Spring Run between Cold Spring Road and Ridge Road, will be closed starting Thursday, May 18. A temporary detour lasting approximately 42 days will be in effect, redirecting traffic via Route 30 and I-81.
This undertaking encompasses various aspects, such as resurfacing, targeted milling, foundational repairs, installation of new guiderails, drainage enhancements, sign placements, pavement markings, maintenance of the bridge spanning Conococheague Creek, and replacement of the box culvert.
The anticipated completion date for all the construction activities is set for September 29.
