Mr. Byron Richard “Rick” Bowser, 70, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Wednesday Morning, January 12 2022, in the emergency room of the Waynesboro Hospital.

Born February 18, 1951 in Roaring Springs, PA he was the son of the late Eugene Dale and Esther Mae (Hamm) Bowser.

He graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior School with the Class of 1969.

Rick served with the United States Air Force from 1973 until 1993. He served in Japan, Guam, South Korea and North Korea.

He and his wife of over 49 years, Dorene L. (McCleary) Bowser, were married on June 16, 1972 in Waynesboro.

Following his discharge from the military, Rick worked with the Waynesboro Police Department in dispatch and processing for over 25 years.

He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Waynesboro and enjoyed hockey, baseball, Civil War reenacting and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Jason E. Bower, Joseph M. Bowser and Charles F. Bowser all of Waynesboro; several grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Barry Richard Bowser on June 6, 2011; one infant granddaughter, Makenzie L. Bowser; two sisters, Audrey Stains and Peggy Feathers; and five brothers, Ronald Bowser, Joe Bowser, Jessie Bowser and infant twins, Kenneth and William Bowser.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro is handling the arrangements.
