The Franklin County Commissioners are calling upon all photographers to help tell the story of Franklin County through a countywide photo contest. Photographers will have the opportunity to showcase their creativity while sharing images of what they love about the county, its people and its culture. Submitted entries will be used to highlight Franklin County across a variety of mediums.
The Franklin County Photo Contest includes the following categories:
● Nature: plants, wildlife, the four seasons
● Franklin County Towns & Communities: cityscapes, iconic architecture, neighborhoods
● Agriculture: farms, barns, livestock, produce, orchards, farmers markets
● Festivals & Events
● Business, Industry & Commerce
● Religious & Educational Institutions: churches, schools, universities
● Food: restaurants, cafes, pubs, ice cream stands, etc.
● Arts, Culture, Historic Sites & Local Attractions
● Housing & Real Estate
● Healthcare/Human Services
● Transportation & Infrastructure
● Aerial/Drone Shots
A first-place prize will be awarded for each category. Prizes will also be awarded for one first-, second- and third-place overall winner. Winners will be announced and recognized publicly by any of the following means: social media, press releases, county website, etc.
Rules of the Contest
Only photos taken in Franklin County will be accepted with the exception of images taken in Shippensburg Borough, on the Shippensburg University campus, at Cowans Gap State Park, and at Caledonia State Park and Long Pine Reservoir. Photographers are reminded not to trespass on private property when taking photos and to stay alert of their surroundings at all times. Photos must be recent (taken since January 1, 2019).
This contest is open to amateur photographers only. An “amateur photographer” is someone who earns less than 50% of his or her annual income through photography. Professional photographers (those who earn 50% or more of their income through photography) are ineligible to participate in this contest, as are employees of Franklin County. Franklin County employees may submit photos through a separate, employee-only contest.
How To Enter
Photographers can submit photos by completing the contest entry form below and emailing firstname.lastname@example.org until December 30, 2022. There is no fee to participate in this contest. Entries will not be accepted without a completed and signed entry form.
