PSUMA cross country: Carper won third straight invitational

Mont Alto’s Macy Carper won her third straight invitational to highlight the Nittany Lion accomplishments during cross country competition hosted Saturday by Penn State Brandywine.

Carper (Sunbury, Pa. / Shikellamy) ran a tougher course out at Brandywine but still paced the field to claim medalist honors in the women’s race with a recorded time of 22:58. Teammate Emily Boozel (Huntingdon, Pa. / Mount Union Area) finished fifth crossing the line in 27:22.

Ninteen runners competed in the men’s 5K race with Mitchell Minda winning (19:05). Mont Alto’s Gavin Miller (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) had another great showing finishing the race fifth, with a time of 20:44. Jacob Geesaman (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro Area) turned in a time of 26:29 for the Nittany Lions.

Mont Alto concludes its season competing in the Penn State Scranton Invitationalnext Saturday(April 24) at 12 p.m.
