CASD to Implement Weapons Detection at Trojan Stadium

The Chambersburg Area School District (CASD) will begin using a weapons detection system at all entrances to the CASHS Trojan Stadium starting Friday, August 22, during the home football game.

According to the district, attendees will be scanned for unauthorized items before entering. The process will be similar to screenings at airports, courthouses, or other public events.

Entry Procedures

  • Attendees must remove cell phones, keys, AirPods, and other metal items from their pockets before entering.
  • Belt buckles do not need to be removed.
  • Guests are encouraged to arrive early to allow time for screenings.

Prohibited Items

  • Knives, weapons, or any metal objects that could be used as weapons.
  • Electronic cigarettes or vapes.
  • Outside food and beverages.
  • Bags of any kind.

If the detection system alerts to an unauthorized item, the individual will need to return it to their vehicle before re-entry.

The district stated the changes are part of its ongoing efforts to enhance safety and security.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
