Chambersburg Beats Carlisle 33-13 Behind Five Green Touchdown Passes

by Ed Gotwals

Chambersburg quarterback Cam Green threw five touchdown passes as the Trojans defeated Carlisle 33-13 Friday during Homecoming at Trojan Stadium.

Green completed 14 of 18 passes for 274 yards. Jashaun Palmer, his friend since sixth grade, caught six passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns. Chambersburg improved to 2-5 overall and 2-4 in the Mid Penn Commonwealth Division. Carlisle fell to 1-6 and 1-5.

The Trojans held Carlisle to 20 yards and one first down, earned through a penalty, in the first half while building a 20-0 lead.

Isaiah Wright recovered a fumbled punt at Carlisle’s 31-yard line in the first quarter, setting up Green’s 6-yard touchdown pass to Brock Chlebowski. Green followed with scoring passes of 57 yards to Palmer and 41 yards to Cam McNew in the second quarter.

Carlisle opened the second half with a 14-play, 90-yard touchdown drive capped by Carter Wilson’s 1-yard run. Four Chambersburg offsides penalties helped extend the possession.

Green answered with a 26-yard touchdown pass to Palmer early in the fourth quarter. Carlisle then narrowed the deficit to 26-13 when Jayce Jones recovered a blocked punt in the end zone.

Malachi Tasker helped Chambersburg control the clock before Green found Palmer for a final 33-yard touchdown on third-and-15. The scoring pass followed a holding penalty that erased a Tasker touchdown run.

Tasker finished with 102 rushing yards on 29 carries. Chambersburg totaled 400 yards of offense while limiting Carlisle to 104. Jusdon Augustin added a fourth-quarter interception for the Trojans.

Chambersburg next visits unbeaten Harrisburg on Saturday at 1 p.m.
