CHAMBERSBURG BOROUGH PETE PROGRAM IS ENDING

Please be advised that the Borough Payments Easily Transferred Electronically (PETE) Program is ending after the November 2025 billing cycle. If you are currently enrolled in the PETE program, your last payment due under this program will be on or before December 8, 2025.

Starting with the December 2025 billing cycle, you will need to pay your bill in-person, by mail, drop-box, or the Utility Customer Portal. In order to avoid missing a payment and possibly having a late penalty assessed, please take steps to ensure you are able to pay your utility bill through one of the aforementioned methods prior to the due date on your December bill. It is recommended that you create an account for the Utility Customer Portal and enroll in auto-pay via ACH/e-check. Auto-pay is similar to the PETE program, where your balance due is auto drafted from your bank account. There is a small fee, currently $1 per automatic withdrawal via ACH/e-check, charged by the payment processor that is not shared with the Borough.

If you have any questions, or need assistance setting up an account in the Utility Customer Portal, please visit the portal website at https://chambersburgpa.gov/resident/portal.html, where you will find “how to” videos and frequently asked questions, or you may contact Customer Service at 717-264-5151 for assistance.

If you’re already registered for the portal and enrolled in auto-pay, or prefer to pay in-person, by mail or drop-box, please disregard this message.

Who We Are

The Franklin County Free Press, established by Vicky Taylor in 2019, emerged as a beacon of local journalism for the residents of Franklin County. Under Vicky's leadership, it quickly became an essential source of news, particularly at a time when major newspaper publications were increasingly overlooking local coverage.

On January 1, 2022, the torch was passed to Nathan Neil and his firm, Neil Publishing, LLC. Neil, a local entrepreneur with multiple thriving businesses in Chambersburg, shares Vicky's fervent commitment to both the community and the world of local journalism.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
