Chambersburg’s girls tennis team improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the Mid Penn Commonwealth with a 4-0 victory over Central Dauphin East on Friday afternoon at Norlo Park.
After the No. 1 singles match was decided by forfeit, Olivia Keller won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Nina Kuchar posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3. In doubles, Gretta Hill and Aria Barberio won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, while Kendall Temcheck and Sophie Keller also earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2.
Chambersburg also hosted the Enos Yeager Invitational in cross country Friday. Natalie Quinn won the girls race on the 2.33-mile Tim Cook course in 14:49, the fourth-fastest time ever recorded on the course by a Chambersburg runner. Bella Rife placed fifth in 16:54, Taliya Raber was 10th in 17:20 and Maggie Holtry finished 12th in 17:32. Chambersburg coach Chris Monheim said Quinn “was outstanding” and noted that four Trojan runners finished among the top 15 to earn medals.
Waynesboro’s Morgan Jones finished third in the girls race in 15:55, while Shalom Christian’s Kassidy Hubers placed sixth in 17:02. Shippensburg’s Evie Jones was 13th, James Buchanan’s Gracyn Diehl finished 18th and Greencastle-Antrim’s Sophia Denlinger placed 29th.
In the boys race, Shippensburg senior Rylan Asper won the invitational in 12:34. Chambersburg placed five runners in the top 15, led by Cole Lehman in sixth at 13:15. Boston Vincenti finished ninth, Liam Coy was 10th, Tobias Willson placed 11th and Ben Lin finished 14th. Waynesboro’s Nate Snyder took 12th, James Buchanan’s John Martin was 13th, Shalom Christian’s Shay Kane finished 17th and Greencastle-Antrim’s Micah Barrett placed 28th.
