Chambersburg Man Facing Charges After Knife Incident at Church

A Franklin County man is facing multiple charges following a violent incident at a local church, according to Chambersburg Police.

Nicholas Parker-Wright, 38, was at the Cedar Street Mennonite Church around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to receive a meal when he became involved in an argument with a woman in the dining room. Police said the two had a history of prior conflicts.

During the argument, Parker-Wright allegedly pulled out a knife and attempted to stab the woman in the eye. He then stabbed the dining room wall, causing damage, and pointed the knife at several other people in the room.

Police reported that Parker-Wright also tried to set a dining room chair on fire using a lighter before being restrained by bystanders. Children, elderly individuals, and people with disabilities were present during the incident.

Parker-Wright is charged with attempted arson, risking a catastrophe, terroristic threats, institutional vandalism, simple assault, and disorderly conduct. He is being held at the Franklin County Prison and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on July 29.
