CHAMBERSBURG — Local police and the American Legion Riders turned an ordinary day into something special for a group of veterans on June 8.
Chambersburg Police Department’s Motor Unit, along with the American Legion Riders, escorted about 25 veterans from the Martinsburg, West Virginia VA Medical Center to the St. Thomas American Legion Post 612 hall for the post’s Veteran’s Appreciation Day event.
The event sponsored by the 22nd District Sons of the American Legion and the American Legion Family of Detrich-Brechbill Post 612 hosted both active and retired members of the military as well as all veterans and their families.
The general public was also welcomed to the post’s annual event.
The Chambersburg Police posted a thank you note on their CRIMEWATCH® website for the privilege of participating in the event and the opportunity to honor the veterans in attendance.
