Chambersburg Softball Climbs District 3 Rankings with Victory

In a vital Mid Penn Commonwealth league matchup, Chambersburg’s softball team emerged victorious against Central Dauphin with a tight score of 6-5. The game, originally suspended due to rain earlier in the week, resumed with Chambersburg trailing by one run. A strong sixth inning, where the Trojans scored three runs, was pivotal in their comeback.

Chambersburg’s record improved to 16-3 overall and 11-3 in the MPC, propelling them to the second spot in the District 3 Class 6A rankings. This ranking is significant as it positions the Trojans for a potential home game in the semifinals, provided they succeed in their upcoming quarterfinal match.

The game’s turning point came in the top of the sixth inning. Chambersburg’s lineup showed resilience against Central Dauphin’s pitcher Brynn Barkley. After Lauren Allison successfully bunted for a base hit, Brooke Leedy followed with a critical single. Bree Paetow then loaded the bases with an infield hit, setting the stage for Karley Skultety, who earned a walk to bring in a tying run. The situation intensified when Sam Paetow hit a two-run single on an 0-2 count, shifting the lead to Chambersburg.

Reliever Saleen Null managed to maintain the narrow lead in the final innings, overcoming a solo home run by CD’s Macey Fisher in the seventh. Null’s performance concluded with a strikeout and two ground balls, sealing the win for Chambersburg.

The game also highlighted contributions from other players in earlier innings, with Bree Paetow and Addison Gsell playing key roles in building the initial lead and maintaining pressure on Central Dauphin throughout the game.
