Chambersburg Visits Harrisburg; Greencastle Faces Trinity

By Egotwals

Chambersburg visits unbeaten Harrisburg on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Severance Field in a Mid Penn Commonwealth football matchup. The Trojans (2-5, 2-4 MPC) defeated Carlisle 33-13 last week, while the Cougars (7-0, 6-0 MPC), ranked No. 2 in Pennsylvania, beat Central Dauphin East 61-0.

Harrisburg averages 48 points per game and allows 9.4. Quarterback Kayden Stevens has passed for 1,368 yards and 16 touchdowns, while Princeton Dent has rushed for 767 yards and 16 scores. Chambersburg coach Gary Carter emphasized handling Harrisburg’s defensive pressure and containing its rushing attack and receivers.

Trojan linebacker Nate Chambers recorded five tackles for loss against Carlisle. Offensively, Cam Green has thrown for 804 yards and nine touchdowns, while Jashaun Palmer leads Chambersburg’s receivers with 565 yards and five scores.

Greencastle-Antrim travels to Trinity for a Mid Penn Colonial game Friday at 7 p.m. at COBO Field. The Blue Devils lost 27-19 to Milton Hershey last week, while Trinity (4-3, 3-1 MPC) defeated Boiling Springs 38-0.

Trinity, last season’s District 3 Class 3A champion and a state semifinalist, features running back Brandon Harris, who has 636 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Greencastle coach Jason Thurston said improved tackling and limiting Harris will be essential. He said the Blue Devils need to win two of their final three games to have a chance at the playoffs.

Thurston also praised quarterback Gavin Logsdon’s performance last week. Logsdon has passed for 605 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Spencer Long has rushed for 512 yards and nine scores.
