Columbus M West obituary 1947~2021
Mr. Columbus M West, 73, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Wednesday evening, March 31, 2021 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born November 21, 1947 in Detroit, MI, he was the son of Ruby F. (Martin) West of Detroit and the late William West.
Mr. West served with the United States Army for over 23 years. Among the places he served were Hawaii, Germany, Italy, New Jersey and he was last stationed at Fort Ritchie, Cascade, MD. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1989. Following his retirement, he worked as a civilian communications specialist at The Pentagon and Lockheed Martin.
He and his first wife, the late Brenda L. (Huff) West, were married on April 12, 1965. Mrs. West died on November 30, 2001. He married his second wife, Linda L. (O’Neal) West, on June 7, 2008.
Mr. West was a member of Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, Chambersburg, PA and enjoyed baseball, lifting weights, corvettes, and model cars.
In addition to his mother and second wife, he is survived by two children, Yevette Evans and her husband, Jerome of Bremerton, WA and Michael West and his wife, Nevenka of Manassas, VA; four grandchildren, Antionette Acker, Leeann Sablan, Nadija Stephens, and Selena West; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Steven West of Cleveland, OH; one sister, Gloria McCoy of Detroit; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father and first wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John West and Lloyd “Doug” West.
Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
