Advanced Senior Mother Connie Darlene Strait, 75, of McConnellsburg, passed away on January 10, 2025 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Connie was born on March 17, 1949 to Charles Ivan McFadden Sr. and Mary Rebecca McFadden in Elizabethtown, Pa., and she was the third of six siblings.
On December 26, 1965, Adv. Sr. Mtr. Connie was united in marriage to Adv. Pr. Eld. Timmy Lee Strait, Sr., and they went on to have two children, Timmy Lee Strait Jr. and Cornelius Wayne Strait.
Mother Connie was a faithful and respected member of the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob her entire life. Connie and her husband Tim volunteered as summer camp counselors for the church in Coshocton, Ohio from 1990 until 2004. Connie enjoyed teaching crafts to young church members at the summer camp.
Connie also graduated from Bible School alongside her husband in 1994 and was a member of the Kings Harps Choir at her church. When her husband was made the Pastor of McConnellsburg, she worshipped alongside him until 1993, when they were sent to Hancock, Maryland. Connie worshiped in Hancock until 1996, when she and her husband were sent to serve at Paw Paw, West Virginia until 2009. She came back to worship at McConnellsburg after the passing of her husband on January 22, 2010. She was a dedicated servant for God, her church and her surrounding community.
Mother Connie volunteered at the McConnellsburg Senior Center for several years and was then hired to be a manager at the center, where she worked many years thereafter. At the Senior Center, Connie enjoyed creating stained glass art and teaching others. She also spent much of her life celebrating the outdoors by hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Connie was a generous, loving, and kind woman to not only her family, but to anyone who crossed paths with her. She was a true representation of God’s love.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Timmy Lee Strait Sr. Her parents, Charles Ivan McFadden Sr. and Mary Rebecca McFadden. Her brother, Clarence John McFadden Sr. and her granddaughter, Jasmine Alayna Rose Osterhaus.
She is survived by her son, Timmy Lee Strait Jr. and his wife Miranda. Her son, Cornelius Wayne Strait and his wife Tabitha. Her brother, Charles Ivan McFadden Jr. and his wife Marcella. Her sister, Patsy Faye Strait and her husband Michael. Her brother, Timothy Marlin McFadden Sr. and his wife Linda. Her brother, James Patrick McFadden Sr. and his wife Connie. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and countless extended family and friends.
Services will be held at the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, McConnellsburg Pa., on January 18th at 11 a.m. Viewing will be before the service from 10 to 11 a.m.
Directly following the funeral service and interment, refreshments will be served at Celebrations Unlimited located at 27994 Great Cove Road, Ft. Littleton PA 17223.
