Crash Closes I-81 Friday Afternoon

CHAMBERSBURG (Aug. 16, 2018) — Interstate 81 was shut down for several hours Friday afternoon near the Walker exit after a truck reportedly hit a parked car.

Emergency personnel was called out at 1:30 p.m. for a crash in which several people had been ejected from their vehicles. When rescuers arrived, they found only one patient, according to Franklin Fire Company’s Facebook posts.

Both sides of the Interstate were reportedly closed for an extended period of time.

Pennsylvania State Police did not put out a news release and a trooper at the Chambersburg station said no information was immediately available.

Robert D. Hamsher 1939-2026

Robert was a United States Navy Veteran and retired with over 30 years of service with the United States Navy Reserves as a Chief Petty Officer.
