Crockpot Little Smokies

These little smokies are cocktail sausages simmered in the crockpot in a sweet and savory barbecue sauce. A super easy slow cooker appetizer that takes just minutes to put together and always gets a rave review.

Ingredients

  • 2 packages little smokies 12–14-ounce size
  • 1 ½ cups barbecue sauce
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Directions:

  • Place the little smokies into a crockpot.
  • Place the barbecue sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder and garlic powder in a medium bowl. Whisk until well combined.
  • Pour the sauce over the little smokies. Cover and cook on low heat for 2-3 hours, then serve.

NOTES

  1. I recommend cooking the sausages for at least 2 hours so that they are warmed all the way through, but you can cook them for longer if needed. You can also cook on low for 2 hours, then keep the crockpot on the warm setting so that the little smokies stay hot throughout the whole party.
  2. The sauce for this receipt can be made up to 4 days in advance.

Who We Are

The Franklin County Free Press, established by Vicky Taylor in 2019, emerged as a beacon of local journalism for the residents of Franklin County. Under Vicky's leadership, it quickly became an essential source of news, particularly at a time when major newspaper publications were increasingly overlooking local coverage.

On January 1, 2022, the torch was passed to Nathan Neil and his firm, Neil Publishing, LLC. Neil, a local entrepreneur with multiple thriving businesses in Chambersburg, shares Vicky's fervent commitment to both the community and the world of local journalism.

Rooted in the heart of Franklin County and powered by its residents, the Franklin County Free Press continues to bridge the gap, ensuring that the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to the community remain in the spotlight.
