The Cumberland County Commissioners recognized 911 dispatcher Eric Harne for assisting with the roadside birth of a baby girl on January 25, 2026.
At 10:53 p.m., during a snowstorm, Harne answered a call from a tractor-trailer traveling along York Road. Using Emergency Medical Dispatch protocols, he provided step-by-step medical instructions to the caller until first responders arrived.
With the delivery, Harne joins 33 dispatchers in the county’s “Stork Club,” who have assisted in delivering 41 babies since the inception of Emergency Medical Dispatch 34 years ago.
