Cumberland County Man Arrested Twice Within 24 Hours After Allegedly Assaulting Same Victim

Upper Allen Township Police arrested a Mechanicsburg man twice within 24 hours after he allegedly returned to the same victim’s home and assaulted her again after posting bail, police said.

Travis J. Brown, 30, of Mechanicsburg, is facing charges including felony strangulation, felony robbery, theft, two counts of simple assault, and two counts of harassment stemming from two separate incidents.

Police said officers first responded to a residence in the 400 block of Garden Drive around 9:35 a.m. on Thanksgiving. During that incident, police determined that Brown strangled and physically assaulted a woman.

Brown was taken to the Cumberland County Booking Center and initially held at Cumberland County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail, according to online court records.

Police said Brown posted bail around midnight and then returned to the victim’s home, where he allegedly assaulted her again and took her phone. The woman was able to run to a nearby residence and call 911 at approximately 1 a.m.

Officers responded and arrested Brown following a short foot pursuit, police said.

Brown is currently being held at Cumberland County Prison. A judge denied bail, stating that no amount of money or conditions would ensure the victim’s safety.

Brown’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 4. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
