CHAMBERSBURG — Grace Johns did her own research before deciding that Chambersburg Area School District’s Customized Cyber (C3) Learning was for her.

Armed with research from the district’s Customized Cyber Learning Center, the high school sophomore then approached her father about the idea of taking her high school classes online.

Grace’s dad was on board with online learning and convinced Grace’s mom to give her the opportunity to enroll.

Grace scheduled seven credits for her sophomore year and has proven herself to be an outstanding cyber-learner.

Online learning has provided Grace the flexibility to complete all of her school work at home and free up her day to do other things of interest to her.

One of Grace’s hobbies is playing softball which she has participated in since she was 7 years old.

Grace is a member of the CASHS JV Softball team. According to her coach, Pat Parson, “Grace is a quiet, very laid back young lady.”

She has played softball for Parson at Chambersburg for two seasons. Grace plays first base and she catches.

Grace may be very quiet and reserved but she is a competitor on the softball field. She fills in wherever the team needs her in the line up as a designated player or courtesy runner for a game, or a bullpen catcher warming up the pitchers.

“She is a utility player that is learning different positions on the field,” the coach said.

CASHS’ C3 Learning program gave Grace the ability to experience a cyber learning environment as well as participate on an athletic team with the district.

With both experiences, it is clear that whatever Grace sets her mind to she will be successful.
