Daniel Charles Witherow 1963-2025

Daniel Charles Witherow, 61, Aspers, PA after a long courageous battle with cancer, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Daniel Charles Witherow
Daniel Charles Witherow

He was born April 10, 1963, in Gettysburg, PA son of the late Dale E. Witherow and Joanne Keller Witherow Stull of Aspers, PA.

Dan married the love of his life on April 28, 1990 Jody Flickinger Witherow, residing in Biglerville/Aspers throughout their marriage.

In addition to his wife and mother, Dan is survived by four children; Elizabeth Constable and her husband Jordan of Aspers, PA, Elana Witherow of Aspers, PA, Erika Steinour of Gettysburg, PA, Eric Steinour and his wife Tatum of Carlisle, PA, six grandchildren; Weston Constable, Josie Constable, Riley Steinour, McKenna Steinour, McKinley Steinour and Maverick Steinour, five brothers and sisters; Kathleen Roberts and her husband Kenton, Joseph Witherow and his wife Wanda, Karen Lemons and her husband Charles, Robert Witherow, Kristen Witherow and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Marie Keller and paternal grandparents, Burton and Helen Witherow.

Once becoming a grandfather, he was known as “Pap” by all. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, “tinkering” in his garage, always working on something for them or with them. They all knew Pap had goodies in his garage!! The garage was sometimes referred to as “pap’s House.”

To know Danny/Pap was to know a Hard-Working Humble Man. Throughout his years he worked on the family farm, while managing full-time work for local establishments. He performed Masonry work for many years, employed by Roger Flickinger and Son’s Masonry (where he met Jody in 1989). He was employed by Sanders Construction in 1990, constructing bridges, where lifelong friendships were made. He was employed by Justice Excavating before starting with Lobar Constructions. He was with Lobar Construction until he retired in the fall of 2023.

Danny/Pap loved Westerns and the outdoors, hunting, camping, beating, fishing and crabbing. Many years were spent at Lake Raystown, camping on the weekends and enjoying the Lake. In 2019 they decided to move the camper to Beach Harbor, a Campers Co-op on Chesapeake Bay. Danny downsized his garage to a “shed” at the bay. Danny loved being out on the water fishing on “Big Blue” and crabbing on “The 83 Grady” with his family.

Though it is a memory that not all were able to experience the words spoken “I’m Not Done Yet” will never be forgotten. It was a trip to Vegas when The Witherow’s and Flickinger’s somehow made it to First Class! The plane was ready to take off and the Flight Attendant told Danny he needed to take his drink, Danny said “I’m not done yet” flight attendant assured him he would replace his drink once we were in the air, again, Danny’s response in his calm demeanor, was but “I’m Not Done Yet” It’s a reflection of Danny’s courage and determination as he has fought since 2014. Never to be forgotten

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 39105.

Online obituary and condolences available at the funeral home’s website.
