David M Bataille 1936-2023

Mr. David M Bataille, 87, of Waynesboro, PA, formerly of Wellsboro, PA and Northfield, NJ, died Friday December 8, 2023.

Born July 9, 1936 in Newark, NJ, he moved to Madison in 1942.

Dave and his wife Patricia (Wright) met at the skating rink in Florham Park, married in 1956 and moved to Northfield where they raised their family.

The Chief Master Sergeant had a distinguished career in the NJ Air National Guard as a valued member of the 177th Fighter Wing.

He spent his time as an Assistant Fire Chief and member of the Northfield Rescue Squad, proud Band Parent, Booster and Drill Instructor for the Mainland Band; Track and Field official, Lay Reader at his church and Boy Scout Leader.

Upon retiring, Dave and Pat moved to Wellsboro, PA to enjoy their retirement with their hobbies and friends and later moved to Wellsboro, PA to spend the rest of their years.

Dave is survived by his 5 children and their spouses: David S Bataille (Marion) of Port St Lucie, FL; Dawn Oliver (Mark) of Mays Landing, NJ; Donna Makofsky (Pat) of Greensboro, NC; Dennis Bataille (Jennifer) of Mays Landing, NJ and Deborah Constant (Tom) of Niceville, FL. He leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great-great, grandchildren, his sister Grace Summa (Fred) and several nephews and nieces as well as his dear friend, Elove.

He is predeceased by his mother, Eleanor; his wife, Pat; granddaughter, Amy; and his beloved furry friend, Molly, the last in a long line of furry friends. 

Dave will be interred with Pat in the Father Harry T. Frownfelter Memorial Columbarium in Wellsboro at the convenience of the family. 

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Quincy Village Benevolent Care Fund, 6596 Orphanage Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268. 

Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is handling the arrangements.

Mr. McCleaf served in the South Pacific with the United States Navy during World War II. He owned and operated A. Fred McCleaf Plumbing & Heating most of his life.
