Local optometrist and lifelong Chambersburg resident David R. Wilson is proud to announce his candidacy for the Borough Council, First Ward. With a deep connection to the community, professional leadership experience, and a strong commitment to the future of Chambersburg, David is running to be your voice on the Council.
David Wilson was born and raised in Chambersburg. A proud 1996 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, David went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Lycoming College and a Doctorate in Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Since 2004, he has worked in the community as an optometrist at MyEyeDr (formerly Allegany Optical) on Wayne Avenue.
Throughout his career, David has demonstrated leadership and a passion for service. For five years, he was a professional services leader at MyEyeDr, where he was responsible for managing and developing a team of doctors and collaborating with operations leaders to improve patient care and business results. David’s experience in this role gave him a unique perspective on how to balance the needs of the community with the responsibilities of running an organization – a skill he believes will serve him well on the Borough Council.
David and his wife, Sarah, are both proud to raise their family in Chambersburg. Sarah, a PhD graduate from Penn State, is an adjunct professor at Wilson College and has been involved with several downtown organizations, currently a board member at the Chambersburg Ballet. Together, they have two children who attend public school in Chambersburg and are active in local activities, especially in downtown Chambersburg. As a father, David is committed to keeping Chambersburg a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
“My connection with Chambersburg, both through my practice and my family, has given me a unique perspective on the needs of our community,” David said. “I believe that we need someone on the Borough Council who not only understands the importance of responsible governance but also understands the balance between growth and preservation of the things that make our town great. As a father and a leader, I’m running to make sure that Chambersburg remains a safe, vibrant, and affordable place for families to grow and thrive.”
David seeks the support of all Chambersburg Borough voters in the First Ward (Polling locations at St. Paul’s Church and Park Avenue Church) in the 2025 election cycle.
