Perry County: Detour on Keystone Way

A detour is in place this weekend on Keystone Way (Rt. 34) in Centre Township, Perry County. The detour starts just north of State Park Road to the Newport Borough line. It is necessary for road work related to a pavement preservation project.

The road will close just south of Little Buffalo Road (Route 4010) at 7 p.m. today so the contactor can begin work on a retaining wall. The road should reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. The detour will use Little Buffalo Road, Cold Storage Road (Route 4005), and Route 274.

Once the road reopens, temporary signals will direct single lane traffic through the work zone in alternating directions. Completion of that section of the project is expected in early November.

This work is part of a 3.24-mile pavement preservation project. It includes base repairs, paving, bank stabilization, minor drainage improvements, guiderail updates, sign updates, and new pavement markings.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA. is the prime contractor on the $2.5 million project.
