Mr. Donald E “George” Green, 70, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022, at his home.
Born January 1, 1952 in Waynesboro, PA he was the son of the late George and Marilyn (Fogle) Green. He was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area.
George graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1970.
He and his wife of over 50 years, Elaine E. (Rock) Green, were married on August 20, 1971. He was a devoted husband and they never spent time apart.
George worked for over 30 years for the United States Postal Service. He worked out of the Cascade, MD Post Office and retired on July 3, 2012. During his career he was awarded the Baltimore Performance Cluster’s Excellence Award in which he was 1 of 10 out of more than 9,000 employees to receive the award.
He attended services at Otterbein Church, Waynesboro and enjoyed reading, sports, hearing the Word of God, and his grand-dogs. He had unconditional love for his family, and thought the world of his daughter, Christina.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Christina Green of Waynesboro; two sisters, Brenda Harris of Zion Crossroads, VA and Becky Hummer of Waynesboro; two brothers, Tom Green of Fayetteville, PA and Robert Green of Waynesboro; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 12, 2022 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastors John Hoffman and Dave Besecker officiating.
Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday evening, in the funeral home.
