Donald R Moser obituary 1930~2021
Mr. Donald R Moser, 90, a resident of Providence Place, Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Milky Way, Waynesboro and Edenville Road, Chambersburg passed away Friday, April 2, 2021.
Born June 2, 1930 in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Russell C. and Sarah (Keller) Moser.
He was a graduate of Reading High School with the Class of 1949.
Mr. Moser served with the United States Navy for 20 years traveling extensively over the World during the Korean War.
He and his first wife, Mrs. Alma Bertha Catherine (Dundore) Moser, were married November 16, 1957 in Reading, PA. They moved to their Milky Way address in 1991. She passed away December 2, 2007. He married Mrs. Linda (Smith) Moser in June 2009 moving to their Edenville Road address in 2015.
Following his discharge from the service, Mr. Moser was employed as a mail carrier for the United States Postal service in Suffolk, VA and Carlisle, PA. He retired in July 1992 after 23 years of service.
Mr. Moser was a member of Fleet Reserve Association in Washington D.C. and National AARP. He also was involved with his church, visited nursing homes and served the needy at Salvation Army, Chambersburg.
In addition to his second wife, he is survived by step-daughter, Bette Jayne Axsmith-Haught (Charles) of Ocala, FL; two step-grandchildren, Cindy Anthony of Pottstown, PA and Kathy Axsmith Turner of Douglassville, PA ; three step-great-grandchildren, Brittney, Chelcie and Quinn; four step-great-great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Christian, Mia and Nyla; two sisters, Nancy Knerr of Wyomissing, PA and Sandra Shalters of Sinking Springs, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Russell E. Moser; and one sister, Marilyn Mengle.
A Celebration of Donald’s Life will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 6, 2021 in the Salvation Army Chapel, 159 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg with Pastor Jeff Stratton officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday in the Chapel.
Graveside services will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Springs, PA at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 6.
