Doris (Guyer) Starr, 88, of Ft. Loudon, PA, went home to be with the Lord on August 31, 2026.
She was born on May 22, 1938, in Mercersburg, PA, the daughter of Basil K. and Mary (Laird) Guyer.
Doris was a faithful member of the St. Thomas Assembly of God, where she served as a missionette leader for nearly 30 years.
She was a seamstress at the Stanley Company, Mercersburg Dress Factory, and Sagner Sewing Factory for many years. She later worked cleaning the church and houses. Doris enjoyed puzzles, working in her flower beds, and taking care of her property, both inside and out.
Doris is survived by daughters Kimberly S. (Robert) Hand and Karen P. (Christopher) Miller; grandchildren, Jeremy Hand and Corey Hand; step grandson, Shaun Miller; step great-grandchildren, Kimberly Miller, Christian Miller and Chase Miller; and siblings, Wilma (Randolph) Wenger and William (Kay) Guyer.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband. Joseph T. Starr, grandson Anthony Kerlin, as well as siblings Vaughn Guyer and Lee Guyer.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 11 a.m, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., Chambersburg, with Pastor Josh Baldwin officiating.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be at Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.
