Downtown Chambersburg, Inc Awarded

Downtown Chambersburg Inc. received a Promotions & Marketing Award for Special or Neighborhood Event. Downtown Chambersburg Inc. filed an application for our 2021 Spring and Fall Food Truck Fests, Sip & Strolls and Chinchorreo: Latin/Hispanic Food Crawl and their application demonstrated that they significantly shifted their cancelled 2020 events due to COVID to COVID friendly outdoor and semi-outdoor events that not only generated foot traffic but also revenue for the organization to further it’s mission to revitalize downtown Chambersburg.

Downtown Chambersburg Inc.’s president, Sam Thrush, said “We are honored to be recognized for our efforts. Our Food Truck Fests, Sip & Strolls and Chinchorreo: Latin/Hispanic Food Crawl allowed us to raise necessary funds for our organization, allowed us to put foot traffic on our streets and sidewalks and provided us an opportunity to build relationships with beverage companies, our growing latin/Hispanic businesses and mobile vendors who may decide to have a brick and mortar location in the future and hope they select our downtown to do business.”

The Townie Awards

The Townie Awards are a part of PDC’s annual statewide conference, which is held in a different commonwealth community each year in order to highlight the respective city or town’s accomplishments in community and neighborhood revitalization.

This year’s conference and 35th Anniversary Celebration, held in downtown Harrisburg, was attended by close to 300 individuals and included both borough and municipal officials, experts in community planning and landscape architecture, and dozens of Main Street and Elm Street Managers.
