In 2021, Downtown Chambersburg Inc. welcomed thousands of people to our downtown at and outside of events like our Spring and Fall Food Truck Fests, Sip & Strolls, Food Crawls, Ice Fest and Duck Derby. We provided support (e.g.: marketing) to stakeholders like Downtown Business Council of Chambersburg, Capitol Theatre, Chambersburg Community Theater and Council for the Arts. Over the course of 2021, we provided business support to our business and property owners, recruited prospective businesses and developers and because of this, we have seen increasing amount of investment within our downtown, including but not limited to upper floor investment and new storefront spaces. Over 5 new storefront businesses in 2021 and over the course of 2021 and early 2022, we welcomed 7 more lodging options to our downtown. Due to our relationships with Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and our property owners, we successfully accomplished over 5 façade projects in 2021. “Downtown Chambersburg has been experiencing growth over the past 7 years and we are grateful to what has been accomplished in 2021. Partners like the Borough of Chambersburg, Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Business Council of Chambersburg has helped make this accreditation a reality. This accreditation from National Main Street Center further recognizes our organization’s efforts to sustain and enhance downtown Chambersburg,” said Sam Thrush, president of Downtown Chambersburg Inc.
