Edwin James Leatherman, 74, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Chambersburg Hospital following an extended hospital stay. He had battle diabetes and kidney failure for many years.

He was born September 25, 1947 in Washington, DC to Earl and Marian (Avery) Leatherman. He was married to Susan Lorraine Setters for 51 years.

He is survived by daughters, Laura (Michael) Michalsky, Kelly (Jerry) Garbinski and Emily (Lee) Djokwe; and son-in-law, Tony Hess. Mr. Leatherman has seven grandchildren: Victoria Mae Fensom, Amanda Hess, Thomas, Marilyn, Alex and Jack Michalsky and Ezra Djokwe. He is also survived by a sister, Linda Lindsay of Greensboro, NC and two brothers, Larry (Jill) Leatherman of Loxley, Alabama and Timothy (Jan) Leatherman of Calera, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Norman Lindsay and daughter, Kathy Hess.

Ed was a graduate of Middletown High School class of 1965, after which he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He received a bachelors degree from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. He retired after a long career as a parole and probation agent for the state of Maryland.

He was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ and an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Waynesboro where he enjoyed serving in many callings and assignments.

He enjoyed sports, gardening and his dogs and his many friends.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fairview Ward, 11887 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro.

Burial will follow in Quincy Cemetery, Quincy, PA.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro.
