In a series of rapid emergency responses, Squad 7 of the Chambersburg Fire Department was initially dispatched to an apartment building at 72 LWW in Chambersburg due to reports of smoke inside the premises. The unit, however, was canceled en route as the situation was quickly handled.
Simultaneously, as the squad was redirected from the initial call, a brush fire on College Road required immediate attention. Engine 7-1, another unit from the same department, was promptly dispatched to manage the brush fire located in Box Area 17-7.
Upon arrival, Engine 7-1 established a fill site crucial for firefighting operations. The fire involved a tractor trailer, a pile of wood, and approximately 10 hay bales. Crews were deployed for overhauling and controlling the fire spread, ensuring all flammable materials were properly managed to prevent any resurgence of the fire.
