SHIPPENSBURG (Oct. 8, 2019) —  Shippensburg University junior Emily Hangen was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Southeast Division Volleyball Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by the league office. It is her first conference weekly award this season and the third of her career.

Hangen, Shippensburg’s two-time American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region and All-PSAC setter, directed the offense this past weekend with 76 assists while also providing 30 digs as the Raiders emerged victorious over Seton Hill and Cal U.

Against Seton Hill, Hangen finished with 40 assists and 17 digs. Against Cal, SU hit .238 – its second-highest output in conference play. She totaled 36 assists and 13 digs. In each match, Hangen contributed three kills.

Hangen is one of five active Raiders to have received a PSAC Athlete of the Week award during their career, joining Samantha Webber (four times, including Sept. 10 of this season), Kendall Johnson (two times), Gianna Sigado (last week on Oct. 1) and Gabriella Johnson (one time).
