She was born on September 8, 1930, in Orrstown, a daughter of the late Harvey W. and Demma K. (Guyer) Kane, Sr. Her first husband John C. Ferrell preceded her in death on August 1, 2000. She married her second husband, Robert L. Cramer on December 31, 2019.

Erma worked as a weaver at the former Richards Textile; a packer at Knouse Foods; and a secretary for her son’s business, Ferrell’s Electric. One of her favorite pastimes was to gamble. She enjoyed greatly going to the clubs to play the fish bowls and BINGO. Erma loved attending local meat raffles and gun drawings. She hardly ever missed a day without having played scratch-off lottery tickets and always enjoyed a good game of cards. Erma once won the POWERBALL in its early years for $200,000. All of these were things that she enjoyed doing alongside her family and friends who will miss her and the times they shared greatly.
